French automaker, Citroën, is the latest renowned brand to undergo a slight rebrand with a new logo. They follow the likes of VW, Renault, BMW and Peugeot, to name a few. The rebranding exercise ushers in Citroën’s age of electric mobility and the logo now has a simplified design and oval shape.
It’s an evolution of André Citroën’s original logo that reflected the company’s first products – chevron-shaped herringbone gear systems. The two chevrons have remained at the heart of the brand ever since. This new logo follows the global trend of simplifying designs to appear better on screens, websites, social media platforms and digital spaces.
Citroën is an indirect customer of Formex Industries. The automotive components and assemblies that we manufacture are sold to Tier 1 suppliers, which are then used on Citroën vehicles. As with our other customers that have undergone recent rebranding, we eagerly anticipate this new generation of Citroën cars and their commitment to electric vehicles (EVs).

Citroën logo is a return to roots
This is the 10th logo that the company has revealed in its more-than-100-year existence. However, calling it a new logo is a bit of a stretch – it’s actually almost identical to the very first logo that was created by André Citroën in 1919. The latest logo will start to roll out on vehicles from mid-2023, according to the French company, as well as dealerships, merchandise and official documents.
The official colour of the logo is dubbed ‘Monte Carlo Blue’ – an appealing blueish-grey which can also be specified as a body colour on new cars in their line-up. Citroën CEO, Vincent Cobée, states that the new branding is an “elegant symbol of progress” on the road to electrification. The last two logos were only used for seven and six years, respectively.

New corporate identity launched too
Along with their ‘throwback’ logo, Citroën is implementing a new corporate identity and slogan, “Nothing moves us like Citroën”. This signature slogan highlights the inevitable revolution in the future of mobility and the company’s role that it hopes to play in sustainable transport.
The brand is set to launch a conceptual family vehicle which will test the new identity and logo on an actual car. “By embracing our roots and reinterpreting our identity in a modern way, we are sending a clear message to everyone that while we’re staying true to our brand DNA, things are changing dramatically at Citroën,” says the head of marketing and communication at Citroën, Laurent Barria.
“We continue to look at things differently in our mission to create daring solutions that make electric mobility more accessible and we’re determined to prove to our customers and to ourselves that nobody and nothing moves us like Citroën as we extend the emotional well-being we experience inside the car to outside of the car through the entire partnership journey they take with us,” continues Barria.
“It requires revolutionary thinking in everything we do, from the innovative vehicles we create to the inclusive, responsible services we provide – and it requires us to express and stand by our unique approach. That is exactly what we are promising to do today,” he concludes.
